sculpting with clay.
you sculpt with clay,
The grit of chamotte is from 0.5 mm to 2 mm.
The larger the image the coarser the chamotte (grog is the grain that is in the clay).
The colors that you can buy are black, terracotta, white, red, beige and pink.
Clay is sold in 10 kg of bread
Not all clays are baked with the same temperature.
That info can be found on the clay you buy.
Put your work at eye level, preferably on a turntable, so you can view from all sides.
When unbaked clay dries, then you do it in a plastic bag, wrap a wet cloth around it, then pour another one to two cups of water at,
depending on the size of the dried piece. After a week you can reuse the clay.
If you do not want to bake the clay, then it's best, or a protective put with paverpol, or better yet a mold
and recasting the image in eg plaster.
then afterwards you can even paint at will (acrylic)
There is also clay for making dolls, but that's a whole other kind, too often self-hardening, so that it no longer needs to be baked.
In most hobby shops sell them this clay, and the tools that you can use for this tool.
